The Magic Garden's Secret Friend

Ten-year-old Lily loved exploring her grandmother's attic. One rainy afternoon, she found something strange glittering in an old wooden box — an iphone with a cracked screen that glowed purple instead of blue.

"That's not just any phone," her grandmother said, smiling. "That's a magic window to the Secret Garden. But only works with a pure heart."

Lily's eyes widened. Outside, her golden retriever Sparky barked excitedly, as if he knew something wonderful was about to happen.

That night, under a blanket of stars, Lily touched the iphone's screen. Purple swirls of light burst forth, forming a shimmering door in the air. Sparky bounded through, and Lily followed.

They tumbled into a garden where flowers sang soft melodies and butterflies left trails of glitter. But in the corner, something shuffled slowly. A figure with gray skin and tattered clothes.

"A zombie!" Lily gasped, hiding behind Sparky.

The zombie stopped. Its eyes, which Lily thought would be scary, were actually the kindest brown eyes she'd ever seen. It held out a hand — clutching a small, wilted flower.

"Friend?" it whispered. "Not scary. Just lonely."

Sparky wagged his tail and approached cautiously. The zombie smiled, dropping the flower to pet him. Sparky licked its gray cheek, and the zombie's skin began to pinken, like magic.

"I was under a curse," the zombie explained. "Everyone ran away before they could see me. Thank you for staying."

The more the zombie smiled and laughed with Lily and Sparky, the more it transformed into a regular boy named Oliver, who had been trapped for a hundred years.

"The iphone chose you," Oliver said. "Because you have a brave heart."

Lily learned that day that scary things aren't always what they seem, and sometimes the best friends are the ones you least expect. She, Sparky, and Oliver visited the Secret Garden every sunset, and the iphone's purple glow guided them home — where real magic waited.
