The Magic Garden Pyramid
Lily loved exploring her grandmother's backyard. It was full of secrets and wonders, but nothing was as mysterious as the strange wooden pyramid tucked behind the rosebushes. It wasn't big—only as tall as her knees—but it gleamed with an ancient golden glow.
One afternoon, Lily sat beside the pyramid, tracing its smooth sides. Suddenly, it began to hum, and a tiny creature popped out from underneath. He had greenish skin, stitches on his cheek, and loose button eyes. He looked a little like a zombie from storybooks, but instead of being scary, he wore a tiny polka-dot hat and offered her a chocolate chip cookie.
"Hello!" said the little creature. "I'm Zed. Would you like to see my collection?"
Lily nodded, her eyes wide. Zed led her inside the pyramid, which was much bigger on the inside than outside! Shimmering crystals hung from the ceiling like stars, and shelves held treasures: a feather that could make you float, a jar of rainbow bubbles, and a flower that sang lullabies.
"I'm not like other zombies," Zed explained, arranging his treasures carefully. "I don't want brains. I want friends. But most children run away when they see me."
Lily smiled. "You're the best friend I've ever made, Zed. Your collection is amazing!"
Every day after school, Lily visited her friend. Zed showed her how the pyramid could make ordinary things magical—pinecones became tiny houses, acorns turned into marching squirrels. In return, Lily brought Zed stories from school and drawings she'd made just for him.
One day, Zed gave Lily a special gift: a miniature pyramid on a silver chain. "Now you can carry magic wherever you go. And whenever you feel lonely, just touch it, and I'll know."
Lily hugged her zombie friend tight. Sometimes the most wonderful discoveries come from the most unexpected places, and friendship can bloom anywhere—even inside a magical pyramid behind the rosebushes.
