The Magic Garden Pool
Lily loved visiting her grandmother's house. There was always something magical to discover in the big backyard. But her favorite thing was Bandit, Grandmother's fluffy golden dog who had the softest ears and the happiest tail.
One sunny afternoon, Bandit started barking excitedly near the old oak tree. His tail wagged so hard that his whole body wiggled. Lily ran over to see what had made him so happy.
Behind the tree, hidden by vines, was a small pool of crystal-clear water. It shimmered like liquid diamonds in the sunlight. Lily had never seen this pool before!
"How did you find this?" Lily asked Bandit. He barked again and pawed at the ground.
Around the edge of the pool grew bright green leaves. Grandmother had told Lily about these—they were spinach plants! But these weren't ordinary spinach. The leaves glowed with a soft green light.
"Try one," whispered a voice. Lily looked around. No one was there. But Bandit wasn't scared. He gently nudged Lily's hand with his nose.
Lily picked a glowing leaf and took a tiny bite. It tasted sweet and fresh, like sunshine and rainbows combined. Suddenly, the world looked different. She could see tiny fairies dancing on the water's surface. The pool wasn't just water—it was a portal to a magical realm!
"The magic spinach reveals the hidden world," the voice said again. An old woman appeared from behind a tree. It was Grandmother! "This garden pool connects our world to the fairy realm. Only those with pure hearts can see it."
"And only those with faithful friends can find it," Grandmother said, scratching Bandit's ears. "He sensed the magic here. Animals can feel wonder before their eyes can see it."
Lily realized something important. She had almost been too busy to follow Bandit when he barked. If she hadn't listened to her friend, she never would have discovered this magic.
"Always pay attention when your friends try to show you something," Grandmother said softly. "The greatest discoveries come from friendship and curiosity."
That summer, Lily and Bandit visited the magic pool every day. She learned that listening to others—especially faithful friends—was the best kind of magic of all.
