The Magic Garden Pool
Lily's backyard was ordinary until the day she discovered something amazing. Behind the old oak tree, hidden by climbing vines, was a tiny pool she'd never noticed before. Its water sparkled like diamonds, even on cloudy days.
Her golden retriever, Max, bounded toward the water with his usual enthusiasm. But strange green leaves floated on the surface — fresh, bright spinach leaves that glowed with soft light.
"Max, wait!" Lily called, but her dog was already sniffing the magical vegetables.
Then something extraordinary happened. A sleek black cat appeared from nowhere, dipping one delicate paw into the glowing water. Where the cat touched, ripples of rainbow colors spread outward.
"I'm Midnight," the cat said calmly. "And this is the Garden of Wishes."
Lily's eyes widened. A talking cat!
"The spinach leaves grant wishes," Midnight continued. "But only to those who share them with friends."
Max barked happily, understanding more than any ordinary dog should. The pool's magic was already working.
Lily carefully plucked a glowing spinach leaf. "I wish..." She thought about all the lonely kids at school, the ones who never had anyone to play with. "I wish everyone had a best friend like Max."
The leaf dissolved into golden sparkles that drifted up toward the sky, then showered down like gentle rain over the whole neighborhood.
That week, something wonderful happened. The shy new girl at school found her voice. The lonely boy down the street started a rock band. Everyone seemed to find their perfect friendship.
Midnight appeared one last time by the magical pool. "You learned the secret," she purred. "Magic grows when shared."
The next day, the pool had disappeared. But in its place grew a garden of the happiest vegetables Lily had ever seen — including more of that special spinach, ready for the next time someone needed a little magic friendship in their lives.
