The Magic Garden Pool

Lily loved exploring her grandmother's backyard. Behind the old oak tree, she discovered something amazing - a small pool of sparkling water she had never noticed before.

The pool shimmered like liquid rainbow. Lily leaned closer and gasped. Green leaves floated on the surface - fresh, green spinach leaves! But these weren't ordinary vegetables. They glowed with soft light.

"Hello!" said a tiny voice.

Lily looked around. No one was there.

"Down here!"

Peering into the pool, Lily saw the most unusual creature. It had bright orange skin and wild purple hair that floated like seaweed. The tiny being was no bigger than Lily's thumb, but she felt huge warmth coming from it.

"I'm Mango," the creature said, climbing onto a spinach leaf boat. "I'm a garden sprite."

Lily reached out her finger. "I'm Lily. Are you... real?"

Mango laughed, and the sound made the water dance. "As real as your imagination! Would you like to see something magical?"

The sprite pulled something from behind its ear - a perfect orange. But when Mango squeezed it, instead of juice, tiny golden butterflies flew out! They filled the air around the pool, sparkling like stars.

"Every garden has magic," Mango said. "But only kind eyes can see it."

Lily's heart swelled with wonder. She looked at the pool with new eyes. The spinach wasn't just leaves - they were fairy boats. The orange wasn't just fruit - it was a treasure chest of magic.

"Will you be my friend?" Lily asked. "I'll keep your secret."

Mango's orange face glowed brighter. "Friends who protect magic are the best kind of friends."

From that day on, Lily visited the pool every afternoon. She learned that the best magic isn't in tricks or spells - it's in seeing the extraordinary in ordinary things, and in friendships that keep wonder alive.

And sometimes, when grown-ups weren't looking, she'd share her own lunch with Mango, who particularly liked the spinach sandwiches.
