The Magic Garden Game
Lily loved her grandmother's garden, but she loved it even more on the day everything turned magical.
She was helping pick fresh spinach for dinner when she noticed something strange. The spinach leaves were glowing! As she reached out to touch one, a tiny creature popped out from behind the leaf. He was small and green, with a smile as wide as a watermelon slice.
"Hello! I'm Sprout!" the creature said. "Want to be my friend?"
Lily's eyes widened. "Yes! But how are you here?"
"The magic garden appears only to children with kind hearts," Sprout explained. "And today's the day of the Great Padel Tournament!"
"Padel?" Lily asked. "Like the racquet game?"
Sprout nodded excitedly. "Exactly! But this is no ordinary game. Come see!"
He led her through the garden, where vegetables had grown into magical players. A giant carrot held a racquet, and a friendly tomato bounced on its feet.
"The winner gets the Golden Orange," Sprout whispered, pointing to a beautiful orange fruit that sparkled like sunshine captured in glass.
Lily's heart raced. "Can I play too?"
"Of course!" Sprout handed her a magical racquet made from a sunflower stem. "Just remember: in this game, kindness matters more than winning."
The game began! Lily laughed as she hit the ball back and forth. The carrot was fast, but the tomato was clever. When Lily tripped, the carrot stopped to help her up instead of scoring. When the tomato missed, Sprout cheered for its effort anyway.
Lily realized something wonderful. She wasn't playing to win anymore—she was playing because it was fun with friends.
"Game point!" Sprout announced.
Lily had the chance to score and win the Golden Orange. But she saw the tomato looking sad, and the carrot cheering her on even though they'd lose.
She hit the ball softly, letting the tomato return it.
"You win!" Lily smiled.
The garden erupted in cheers. But then, something magical happened. The Golden Orange floated toward Lily, then split into four perfect pieces.
"For everyone!" Sprout exclaimed. "Because that's what true friends do—they share."
That evening, Lily's grandmother wondered why the spinach tasted so magical. Lily just smiled, knowing some secrets are best kept in the garden, where friendship grows wild and free.
