The Magic Garden Friend

Lily loved playing in her grandmother's garden, especially with her cat Mitten. Mitten wasn't an ordinary cat—he had bright orange fur and loved chasing butterflies.

One sunny afternoon, Lily found something curious near the old oak tree. It was a small, dusty bottle labeled 'Garden Vitamin.' Grandmother had told her about special plant vitamins that made flowers grow tall and strong. But this bottle sparkled with tiny rainbow crystals.

Just then, Mitten pounced on something behind the bushes. Lily followed and gasped. A small, green creature was sitting there, looking sad and lonely. Its skin was bumpy like a pickle, and it moved slowly.

"Are you a zombie?" Lily asked, remembering from her storybooks.

The creature shook its head slowly. "I'm a garden sprite," it said in a whispery voice. "I've been sleeping underground for fifty years. I'm very weak."

Lily looked at the vitamin bottle in her hand. Maybe this could help! She sprinkled a few rainbow crystals onto the sprite's hand. The creature ate them and suddenly perked up. Its green skin began to glow softly.

"Thank you!" said the sprite, now standing tall. "I'm Zummy, and I guard this garden's magic." Zummy waved his hands, and beautiful flowers bloomed instantly everywhere.

From that day on, Lily, Mitten, and Zummy became best friends. Zummy showed them secret paths through the garden. Mitten would chase magical butterflies while Zummy made the flowers dance.

Lily learned that sometimes things that seem scary at first just need a little help—and a little friendship—to show their true magic. And every afternoon, she would visit her garden friends, ready for another wonderful adventure together.
