The Magic Cable to Wonder

Lily found the old cable behind her grandmother's garage. It shimmered like a rainbow, even though it was just a plain wire. Or was it?

"What are you?" Lily whispered, wrapping the orange cable around her wrist. Suddenly, she felt lighter than air. WHOOSH! The cable pulled her up, up, up into the clouds!

She landed in a magical world where the sky was purple and the grass sparkled like diamonds. There, she met something surprising—a zombie! But this zombie wasn't scary at all. He wore a baseball cap and carried a mitt.

"Hi! I'm Zed," the zombie said, his green skin crinkling into a friendly smile. "Want to play catch?"

Lily's eyes widened. "But you're a... zombie! Aren't zombies scary?"

Zed laughed. "Not me! I'm a friendly zombie. I love baseball more than anything!"

They played catch under the purple sky. Zed threw the ball with surprising grace. Lily giggled as she ran to catch his pitches. They became friends instantly.

"Want to see something magical?" Zed asked. He led her to a crystal pool that reflected stars, even though it was daytime.

"This is the Wonder Pool," Zed explained. "Make a wish while holding something orange, and it comes true!"

Lily pulled an orange from her pocket—she'd packed it for her adventure. She closed her eyes and wished: "I wish I could visit Zed whenever I want!"

The pool glowed golden. The orange cable around Lily's wrist pulsed with light.

"Your wish came true!" Zed cheered. "Now you can use the cable to visit me anytime! And I can visit you too!"

From that day on, Lily and Zed became the best of friends. She learned that you shouldn't judge someone by how they look—even zombies can be kind. Zed learned that friendship makes everything more fun.

And sometimes, when grown-ups weren't looking, they'd spot a girl and a friendly zombie playing baseball in the backyard, sharing oranges and laughing under the stars.
