The Magic Cable to Skyball

Ten-year-old Leo knelt in the dusty garage, his fingers wrapping around a mysterious golden cable that seemed to shimmer in the afternoon light. His grandfather had mentioned this cable was special—left behind by sky travelers who visited years ago.

Curious, Leo gave it a gentle tug. Suddenly, WHOOSH! The cable lifted him off the ground, pulling him upward through clouds that tickled his nose like cotton candy.

"Hello there!" a voice giggled beside him. A fluffy blue cloud-girl floated nearby, her hair made of wispy white mist. "I'm Cumulus! Want to play baseball?"

Leo's eyes widened. "In the SKY?"

"Skyball!" she corrected, pulling a glowing crystal ball from her pocket. "But first—swimming lessons!"

Before Leo could protest, Cumulus grabbed his hand. "Cloud swimming is like moving through pudding—just wiggle and float!" Leo kicked his legs, and to his delight, he glided through the puffy clouds, spinning and diving like a dolphin.

"You're a natural!" Cumulus cheered. "Now, let's play!"

They transformed an enormous cloud into a baseball diamond. Cumulus pitched the sparkling ball; Leo swung with all his might. CRACK! The ball shot through the sky, leaving a trail of rainbow colors.

"Home run!" they shouted together, racing around the floating bases.

As the sun began to set, painting the clouds pink and gold, Cumulus squeezed Leo's hand. "You're my best friend now. The magic cable only brings kind hearts to Sky Kingdom."

Leo hugged his new friend. "Can I come back?"

"Whenever you pull the cable," Cumulus whispered, pressing a small cloud fragment into his palm. "This will remind you—magic exists for those who believe."

Leo slid down the cable, landing softly in his garage. The golden cable had vanished, but in his pocket gleamed the cloud fragment, still twinkling with sky-light.

That night, Leo dreamed of rainbow home runs and cloud swimming, knowing that friendship—like magic—only appears to those who keep their hearts open.
