The Magic Cable Pitch
Leo loved baseball more than anything, but he could never hit the ball. Every day after school, he'd practice in his backyard, swinging his bat until his arms hurt. But the ball would just drop to the grass with a disappointing thud.
One afternoon, as Leo sat under his favorite oak tree feeling sad, he noticed something strange. An old TV cable lay curled in the grass like a silver snake. It had been there for years, but today it seemed to sparkle.
Suddenly, the sky darkened. Storm clouds gathered faster than Leo had ever seen. A brilliant bolt of lightning struck the old oak tree, and for a moment, everything turned purple.
Leo squeezed his eyes shut. When he opened them, the old cable was glowing softly, humming like a happy bee. Curious, he reached out and touched it.
ZING! The cable wrapped gently around his baseball bat, connecting to the ball sitting on the grass. The ball began to float, glowing with the same purple light as the lightning.
"Pitch to me!" the ball seemed to say without words.
Leo tossed the ball into the air. It floated there, waiting. The cable-guided bat seemed to know exactly what to do. Leo swung, and CRACK! The ball shot upward, following the lightning's path into the clouds.
Where it went, Leo didn't know. But the next day, he found the ball back in his yard with a note: "Keep practicing, and magic will find you. - Your Friend From Above"
From that day on, Leo's batting improved. Not because of magic, but because he'd learned that wonder and patience make everything possible. And sometimes, during storms, he'd see that old cable glow just a little, reminding him that magic is real for those who believe.
