The Magic Cable in the Pool
Lily loved summer days, especially when she could splash in her backyard pool. The cool blue water sparkled under the sun like diamonds. Every afternoon, she'd swim until her fingers wrinkled like prunes.
One day, while diving for her favorite pool toy, Lily spotted something strange at the bottom. It wasn't a toy or a leaf — it was an old cable, glowing with a soft golden light!
Curious, Lily pulled the mysterious cable from the water. It hummed with warmth, and suddenly, her iPhone — which she'd left on the pool chair — began to ring with a melody she'd never heard before.
"Hello?" Lily answered, holding her phone with trembling hands.
"Thank you for finding me!" said a tiny voice. "I'm Pearl, the water fairy! I've been trapped in that cable for one hundred years!"
Lily's eyes grew wide. "A real fairy?"
"Yes!" Pearl's voice chimed. "The water spirits sent the cable to find someone kind and brave. Only someone with a pure heart could see its magic."
The water in the pool began to swirl, forming beautiful patterns. Fish made of pure light leaped from the surface, dancing in the air.
"You freed me," Pearl continued. "Now I can return to the enchanted pond where all water fairies live. But I need your help one more time."
"Anything!" Lily promised.
"Throw the cable back into the pool with a wish for someone else. The magic will find them."
Lily thought carefully, then tossed the glowing cable into the water. "I wish for my little brother Tommy to find magic too."
The pool sparkled brighter than ever. Pearls of light floated up and disappeared into the sky.
"Thank you, Lily!" Pearl called. "Remember — magic is everywhere, but only those who believe can see it."
That night, Lily fell asleep with a smile, dreaming of water fairies and wondering what magic tomorrow might bring. And somewhere deep in the pool, the golden cable waited for the next person who needed a little enchantment in their life.
