The Magic Cable Car Ride

Tommy sat on his front porch, his favorite red baseball cap pulled low over his eyes. He missed his best friend Leo, who had moved away three months ago. Every day after school, Tommy would toss his baseball up and catch it, imagining Leo was there to play.

That afternoon, something magical happened. When Tommy threw his baseball high into the air, it didn't come down. Instead, it caught on a glowing silver cable that appeared out of nowhere, stretching from Tommy's backyard all the way up to the clouds.

Tommy pulled his hat tighter and grabbed the cable. It felt warm and sparkled with tiny lights, like a necklace of stars. Without thinking, he began to climb.

Up and up he went, past tree branches, past birds' nests, past airplanes leaving fluffy white trails. The cable hummed with a happy song, and Tommy's baseball bobbed along beside him like a friendly companion.

Suddenly, he reached a magnificent castle in the clouds. And there stood Leo!

"Tommy!" Leo cried, running to hug his friend. "I've been waiting for you to find the Star Cable!"

Leo explained that he lived in Sky Castle now, helping the Cloud King paint beautiful sunsets. "But I was lonely," Leo admitted. "So I sent the magic cable down to find my best friend."

Tommy couldn't believe it. "Your baseball cap is magic too!" Leo laughed. "That's why it brought you here!"

Together, they painted the evening sky in purple and gold, then slid down the silver cable on Tommy's baseball, laughing all the way home. Before Tommy climbed through his bedroom window, Leo whispered, "Visit anytime. Just look for the cable."

Tommy tucked his special baseball under his pillow and smiled. Friendship, he discovered, could reach anywhere—even to the stars.
