The Magic Cable Car
Lily never liked spinach. Until the day she discovered the magic cable car.
It appeared on her street one misty morning—an old-fashioned cable car painted in sparkling rainbow colors, hovering just above the ground without any tracks.
"Hop in!" called a friendly voice from inside.
Lily stepped in and met Zed, a green-skinned boy with messy hair who looked kind of like a zombie but wasn't scary at all. His smile was warm, and his eyes twinkled like stars.
"I'm a guardian zombie," he explained. "Not the scary kind! I protect something very special."
The cable car zoomed through the clouds, across mountains made of candy, and finally landed in a secret garden hidden inside a giant pumpkin.
There, row after row of emerald-green spinach plants glowed with magical light.
"This isn't ordinary spinach," Zed said proudly. "One leaf gives you the power to speak to animals. Two leaves make you fly. Three leaves grant one wish."
Lily's eyes widened. She had always wanted to fly!
Zed gently plucked three leaves. "But first, you must promise to use your wish for something good. Something that helps others."
Lily thought carefully. She could wish for anything—toys, candy, fame. But then she remembered her little brother Tommy, who had trouble making friends at school.
"I wish," she said, "that Tommy could find a best friend who loves adventure as much as he does."
The spinach sparkled and swirled around her. The next day at school, Tommy met a new boy who loved dinosaurs and exploring just like him. They became instant friends.
And Lily? She discovered that the magical spinach actually tasted like chocolate strawberries.
Every week, the cable car returns to take Lily and Tommy back to the secret garden, where they help Zed grow more magical spinach for children who need wishes granted.
Sometimes the most wonderful things in life—like spinach and zombies—aren't what they seem at all. They're just magic waiting to be discovered.
