The Magic Cable Car

Lily discovered the old cable car at the bottom of her garden, hidden behind the climbing roses. Its metal cable shimmered like silver ribbon, stretching all the way up to the clouds.

"Where do you go?" Lily whispered, touching the rusty door.

The car gave a gentle wobble, and the door swung open with a happy creak. Lily climbed inside. Suddenly, a large fuzzy bear hopped in beside her! He wore a little red cap and carried a honey pot.

"I'm Barnaby!" the bear said, waving his paw. "This cable car visits magical places. Want to come?"

Lily nodded excitedly. The cable car began to glide upward, past birds' nests and through rainbows. Trees waved hello with their branches.

At the very top of the cable, they found a lonely gray figure shuffling in circles. It was a zombie — but not a scary one. He just looked very, very tired.

"That's Zee," Barnaby whispered. "He's been walking around and around for years. He forgot how to have fun."

Lily's heart went out to Zee. "Maybe he needs a friend!"

She stepped out of the cable car. "Hello, Zee! Would you like to dance with us?"

Zee looked up surprised. His gray face brightened. "Dance?"

Lily showed him a silly wiggle dance. Barnaby joined in, wiggling his bear tummy. Soon Zee was dancing too — not a zombie shuffle anymore, but joyful jumping!

"I forgot about dancing," Zee laughed, his gray skin turning pink with happiness. "I forgot about friends!"

The three of them rode the cable car back down, singing songs all the way. At the bottom, Zee thanked them.

"I was a lonely zombie, but you taught me something important," Zee said. "The magic isn't in the cable car. It's in friendship."

Lily waved goodbye as her new friends disappeared into the sunset. She knew the magic cable would return whenever she needed an adventure — or whenever someone needed a friend.
