The Magic Bridge

Lily discovered the glowing device half-buried in her garden. It looked like an ordinary **iphone**, but when she touched it, the screen shimmered with rainbow colors.

"Hello?" she whispered.

A tiny face appeared. It was a friendly **bull** with a golden nose ring. "Please help us! My best friend Bear lives across the rushing **water**, and we can't visit each other anymore. The bridge washed away in the storm!"

Lily's heart squeezed. She knew how much she missed her own best friend when she couldn't see her.

The bull's image rippled, and suddenly she saw through the phone's magic screen—to a sad brown **bear** sitting on the other side of a sparkling stream. Both animals waved at her through the glowing glass.

"I'll help!" Lily promised.

She ran to her garage and found something unexpected: a long, thick **cable** her dad used for his climbing gear. It was sturdy and strong.

The magic phone guided her through a hidden path in the woods until she reached the stream. The bull waited on one bank, the bear on the other. Both looked lonely.

Lily tied the cable between two sturdy oak trees. It stretched across the water like a silver smile.

"But who will go first?" the bear worried. "I'm too heavy. What if it breaks?"

"We'll go together," the bull said bravely. "Hold my paw."

Lily watched as the bull and bear inched onto the cable together, balancing carefully. The cable held strong because they trusted each other.

When they reached the middle, they hugged right there on the swaying bridge. The water sparkled beneath them like diamonds.

"Friendship makes us strong," the bear said.

Lily's iphone buzzed with one last rainbow flash before going dim, its magic used up for something better.

As she walked home, Lily knew the truth: some bridges are made of steel, but the strongest ones are made of kindness and courage.
