The Magic Beyond the Screen

Lily loved summer. She loved the warm sun, the cool breeze, and most of all, her grandmother's backyard pool. But this summer was different. Lily spent most days tapping and swiping on her iPhone, playing games and watching videos while the world passed her by.

One afternoon, Lily's feet dangled in the sparkling blue water as she stared at her screen. That's when she noticed something strange — a tiny goldfish swimming near her toes, but this wasn't an ordinary fish. It shimmered with colors like a rainbow, and when it surfaced, it spoke!

"Hello, Lily!" said the goldfish in a bubbly voice. "I'm Finn, and I need your help!"

Lily dropped her iPhone on the towel with a splash. "You can talk?"

"Of course!" Finn swam in excited circles. "But I can only be seen by children who look up from their screens. The Magic Pool needs you!"

Finn explained that the pool was actually a portal to the Ocean of Dreams, where wishes came true. But the connection was fading because children had stopped using their imaginations.

"What can I do?" Lily asked, her eyes wide with wonder.

"Make a wish!" said Finn. "A real wish, from your heart, not from an app!"

Lily closed her eyes and thought deeply. She didn't wish for more games or followers or likes. She wished that all children could see the magic in the world around them.

Suddenly, the water began to glow. Tiny lights floated up like stars, and the pool transformed into a window to an underwater kingdom. Mermaids waved, dolphins danced, and colorful fish swam through coral castles.

"Thank you, Lily!" Finn cheered. "You've opened the magic again!"

Lily spent the rest of the summer exploring, imagining, and making real friends. She still used her iPhone sometimes, but she learned that the best magic couldn't be found on any screen — it was waiting right outside, ready for anyone brave enough to look up and see it.
