The Magic Baseball Summer
Ben loved baseball more than anything. Every afternoon, he'd grab his favorite ball and practice in the field behind his house.
One day, while sitting under the tall palm tree, something magical happened. The baseball started to glow warm in Ben's palm. Suddenly, he could hear a deep, friendly voice.
"Can you throw it here?"
Ben looked around. No one was there — until he peered through the old wooden fence. A bull with the gentlest brown eyes was watching him.
"You can hear me?" the bull asked, surprised.
Ben nodded, eyes wide.
"My name's Barnaby," the bull said. "I've always wanted to play baseball, but I never could because... well, I'm a bull."
That night, while the stars twinkled above, Ben taught Barnaby how to hold the bat with his hooves. The bull was surprisingly good! His strong legs made him fast, and he could scoop up ground balls with his horns like a giant glove.
But Ben wished Barnaby could really play on his team. The magic baseball glowed brighter in Ben's palm as he made his wish.
"What if you tried really, really hard to believe?" Barnaby said.
Ben closed his eyes and wished with all his heart. When he opened them, Barnaby had changed — he was now a boy with the same brown eyes!
They played together in the big game, and Barnaby hit the winning home run. As they celebrated under the palm tree, Ben learned something wonderful: true friendship means seeing the magic in others, no matter what they look like.
Sometimes on summer evenings, you can still hear two friends laughing under that old palm tree, the magic baseball glowing between them.
