The Magic Baseball Star
Leo loved baseball more than anything in the world. Every day after school, he would grab his favorite baseball—the one with the shiny golden stripe—and practice pitching in his backyard. One warm afternoon, as Leo wound up for his best pitch, something magical happened. The baseball began to glow!
Suddenly, a tiny sparkle popped out of the baseball! It was a little star with a smiley face.
"Hello, Leo!" chirped the little star. "I'm Twinkle, and I need your help! The Great Bull in the clouds is feeling lonely because no one visits him anymore. Will you come with me?"
Leo's eyes grew wide. "But how will we get there?"
Twinkle twinkled brighter and floated toward Leo's pocket. His iPhone started to buzz and glow with rainbow colors. When Leo touched it, the screen showed a magical pathway leading straight up into the sky!
"Hold my hand and trust your heart," Twinkle said.
Leo took a deep breath, grabbed his glowing baseball, and stepped onto the rainbow path. Up, up, up they went, past fluffy clouds that tasted like cotton candy. Finally, they reached a beautiful cloud castle.
There sat the Great Bull—but he wasn't scary at all! He was enormous and snowy white, with the gentlest brown eyes Leo had ever seen. Long, shimmering tears rolled down his fuzzy cheeks.
"Nobody wants to be my friend," the Bull rumbled sadly. "They think I'm scary because I'm big."
Leo stepped forward bravely. "I'm not scared! My dad always says you can't tell how someone is on the inside just by looking at the outside."
The Great Bull's eyes lit up. "Would you... would you like to play baseball with me?"
Leo's face beamed. "Yes!" He handed his magical baseball to the Bull, who held it carefully in his giant hoof. Together they played the most wonderful game of cloud baseball ever. The Bull's throws made shooting stars streak across the sky!
When it was time to go home, the Great Bull gave Leo a warm nuzzle. "Thank you for seeing the real me. You're a true friend."
Leo's iPhone pinged—a real message from his dad. But as Leo looked at it, he noticed something new. A tiny spark of Twinkle's magic remained on his screen, reminding him that the best friends aren't always the ones you expect.
That night, Leo fell asleep hugging his golden-striped baseball, knowing that kindness and courage are the strongest magic of all.
