The Magic Baseball Hat
Leo loved his old baseball hat. It was blue and faded, with a small hole near the brim where his curly hair sometimes poked through. Every day after school, he would grab his glove and run to the park behind the big palm tree by the playground.
One sunny afternoon, Leo noticed something strange. Under the palm tree sat a girl with wild rainbow-colored hair, reading a book. She looked up and smiled.
"Hi! I'm Zoe. Want to play baseball?" she asked, pulling a worn mitt from her backpack.
Leo's eyes lit up. No one ever wanted to play baseball with him! They threw the ball back and forth, laughing whenever they missed. Then Zoe giggled and said, "Let's play zombie tag! I'll be the zombie first!"
She shuffled toward him, arms outstretched, making silly faces. Leo ran, laughing so hard his sides hurt. He tagged her and became the zombie, shuffling and groaning dramatically. They played until the sun began to set.
"Tomorrow, let's play on my team," Zoe said. "My brother's team needs one more player for the big game Saturday."
Leo nodded eagerly. As he walked home, he touched his lucky hat and smiled. Sometimes the best magic isn't in fairy tales—it's in finding a friend who likes the same things you do. And that was better than any spell in the world.
