The Magic Baseball Friend
One sunny afternoon, Leo sat alone by the pond behind his house, tossing his favorite baseball up and down. He'd just moved to town and hadn't made any friends yet. The baseball felt warm in his hands, worn from countless games of catch with his grandpa back home.
"I wish I had a friend here," Leo sighed, dropping the ball onto the grass.
Suddenly, the baseball wiggled! Leo's eyes went wide as tiny fins popped out from its sides, and a smiley face appeared on its leather surface.
"I could be your friend!" squeaked the baseball. "I'm Bouncy! And I've always wanted to try swimming!"
Leo laughed with delight as Bouncy hopped into the pond. But Bouncy didn't sink — instead, the baseball floated on the surface like a little boat, then dove gracefully underwater.
"Come swimming with me!" Bouncy called, creating the tiniest splashes.
Leo waded in, and something magical happened. He could breathe underwater! Together, they explored a hidden world beneath the pond's surface. Fish with rainbow scales played tag around them, and crabs waved hello.
But when Leo got tangled in some water weeds, he started to panic. Bouncy immediately inflated like a life raft, pushing Leo toward the surface.
"Friends help each other!" Bouncy said.
Safe on shore, Leo hugged his magical baseball tight. He realized friendship wasn't about having someone exactly like him — it was about finding someone who cared.
"Want to play baseball tomorrow?" Leo asked.
"Only if you'll go swimming again!" Bouncy replied, fins wiggling with excitement.
From that day on, Leo never felt lonely. He had the most extraordinary friend in the world — a baseball who loved swimming, and who taught him that magic exists in the most unexpected places.
