The Lonely Zombie Who Just Wanted to Play

In the sleepy town of Willowbrook, children whispered about the mysterious figure who shuffled around the old recreation center at dusk. "It's a zombie!" they'd giggle, but nobody had ever actually seen him up close.

Lily was the bravest eight-year-old in town. One afternoon, while practicing her padel swing against the wall, she heard a soft groan. She turned to see a greenish figure peeking from behind the fence.

"Hello?" Lily called out, clutching her padel racquet tight.

The zombie stepped forward slowly. He looked sad, not scary at all. His gray skin drooped like old dough, and his eyes were large and lonely.

"I... I used to play padel," the zombie mumbled. "Before... well, before."

Lily's eyes widened. "You play padel?"

"Before I became... like this," he sighed. "Now I'm too tired. My body feels like heavy mud all the time."

Lily noticed something shiny in the zombie's hand. It was an old, dusty bottle of pills. The label read: ' SUNSHINE VITAMINS – For energy, joy, and adventure!'

"What's that?" Lily asked.

"I found it in the old pro shop," the zombie explained. "But I don't know if it works anymore."

Lily had an idea. "My mom's a doctor! She says vitamins give us energy. Let's try one!"

The zombie hesitated, then popped a vitamin into his mouth. Suddenly, something magical happened. His perked up, his eyes sparkled, and he jumped in the air!

"I feel AMAZING!" the zombie cheered. "Let's play padel!"

Lily taught the zombie – whose name was Zed – everything she knew about padel. He learned quickly, laughing as he hit the ball back and forth. Other children gathered to watch, and soon everyone wanted to play with Zed.

Every day after school, Zed took his sunshine vitamin and played padel with all the children. He wasn't lonely anymore. The zombie who once shuffled sadly through Willowbrook became the town's most enthusiastic padel coach, teaching children that sometimes, the scariest-looking people just need a little friendship – and maybe a vitamin – to show their true, wonderful colors.

And every evening, as the sun set over the padel courts, you could hear Zed's happy voice calling out, "Great shot! Let's play again tomorrow!"
