The Little Sphinx Who Couldn't Riddle
In the golden desert of ancient Egypt, there lived a tiny sphinx named Cleo. Unlike the other sphinxes who loved asking tricky riddles to travelers, Cleo had a secret dream—she wanted to be a spy! She would practice tiptoeing around the pyramids and hiding behind palm trees, watching the world with big, curious eyes.
One starry night, Cleo spotted something mysterious. A giant golden bull was wandering through the desert, looking sad and confused. The bull's horns gleamed like moonlight, and his hooves made soft thumping sounds in the sand. Cleo knew this was no ordinary bull—his eyes sparkled with ancient magic!
The little sphinx followed quietly, using her best spy skills. She watched as the bull stopped at each pyramid, sniffing the air and shaking his great head. At the third pyramid, he let out a mournful low that echoed across the dunes.
Cleo couldn't resist. "Why are you so sad, Mr. Bull?" she called out, forgetting to stay hidden.
The bull jumped! He hadn't heard her at all. "Oh little sphinx," he rumbled gently. "I am the Star Bull, guardian of the celestial herd. I fell from the sky while chasing a comet, and now I can't find my way home. Every night, I search for the path back to the stars."
Cleo's heart swelled with compassion. She knew she could help! "I may be small," she said bravely, "but I'm the best spy in all of Egypt. I'll help you find your way!"
Together, the unlikely pair searched high and low. Cleo climbed to the top of the tallest pyramid to look for clues. The bull used his magical star-sight to see things no one else could. Just before dawn, Cleo spotted something—a faint trail of sparkling stardust leading straight up to the brightest star in the constellation Taurus!
"There!" she cried. "That's your home!"
The Star Bull was overjoyed. He thanked Cleo with a nuzzle of his golden nose, then bounded up the trail of stardust, growing smaller and smaller until he became one with the stars again.
From that night on, whenever Cleo looked up at Taurus, the bull's star twinkled extra bright, as if winking at his little sphinx friend. Cleo learned that being different from others wasn't bad at all—her unique skills had made her a hero. And sometimes the best adventures come from being exactly who you are.
