The Lightning Zombie's Magic Vitamin

Ten-year-old Max loved thunderstorms. He pressed his nose against the window, watching purple lightning stitch across the sky. His golden retriever, Buster, whimpered softly beside him.

CRACK! A lightning bolt struck the old oak tree in their backyard. Max rushed outside with Buster bounding ahead. Something glowed in the tree's hollow—his dad's old iPhone that had been missing for months!

But that wasn't all. A small figure staggered out from behind the tree. It was green and gray, with stitches across its face and one floppy ear.

"A zombie!" Max gasped.

But this zombie didn't want brains. He looked sad and tired, barely able to stand. Buster sniffed him cautiously, then licked the zombie's hand, tail wagging.

The zombie's eyes, which Max expected to be scary, were actually big and friendly. "I'm Zippy," he croaked. "The lightning woke me up, but I feel... empty inside."

Max picked up the iPhone. Amazingly, it turned on by itself, displaying a glowing message: FEED THE MAGIC VITAMIN.

"A magic vitamin?" Max wondered. He remembered his grandmother talking about special rainbow-colored berries that grew on the hill behind their house—berries she called "nature's vitamins."

"Let's go, Buster! Let's go, Zippy!"

Together, the three friends climbed the hill. Zippy moved slowly, so Max and Buster helped him. When they found the rainbow berries, Zippy ate one.

BOING! Colorful sparkles burst from Zippy's skin. His gray patches turned rainbow-colored! He did a happy dance, spinning and jumping.

"I'm ALIVE!" Zippy cheered. "And I have three new best friends!"

Max learned something wonderful that day: sometimes the scariest-looking things just need a little kindness. And magic vitamins help too.

Now every thunderstorm, Max, Buster, and rainbow-colored Zippy dance together in the glowing lightning, celebrating the night adventure turned three best friends forever.
