The Lightning Vitamin Chase

runninglightningvitamin

Leo hated mornings. Every day, his mother placed the same orange chewable tablet on his breakfast plate. 'Take your vitamin,' she'd say cheerfully. 'It helps you grow strong!'

But Leo wanted to be strong by running, climbing trees, and having adventures, not by eating orange discs that tasted like chalky sunshine.

One stormy Tuesday, Leo devised a brilliant plan. When his mother wasn't looking, he slipped the vitamin into his pocket. 'I'll bury it in the garden,' he thought. 'That way, it can help the flowers grow strong instead!'

Outside, dark clouds gathered like giant purple bruised plums. Thunder rumbled like a hungry tummy. Leo loved storms—they made the world feel exciting and alive. He began running through the wet grass, his sneakers squelching with each step, clutching the vitamin in his hand.

Suddenly, the sky flashed white-hot. A single bolt of lightning streaked down like a glowing finger pointing right at Leo!

Leo froze. But instead of hurting him, the lightning bounced off his palm and struck the vitamin he was holding. CRACK! ZAP!

The orange tablet didn't burn. Instead, it began to glow from within, spinning like a tiny top. Then—POP!—it burst into a thousand little sparks. Each spark transformed into a miniature person no bigger than Leo's thumb, wearing shimmering orange suits.

'Thank you for setting us free!' said the smallest spark-person, doing a joyful cartwheel. 'We're Lightning Sprites, and we've been trapped in that vitamin for ages! Lightning is the only thing that can break the spell!'

Leo's eyes widened. 'You mean... vitamins contain magical creatures?'

'Only the special ones,' grinned another sprite. 'We give children the power to run fast, think quick, and dream big. But we can only do our magic if someone actually swallows us!' The sprites giggled and began diving back into the vitamin, which reformed in Leo's hand, now glowing faintly.

'Make me strong,' Leo whispered. He popped the vitamin into his mouth and chewed. It tasted like lightning—crackly, bright, and full of energy.

That day, Leo ran faster than ever before. He climbed the tallest oak tree in his yard. His homework seemed to finish itself. And that night, he dreamed he was running across clouds, catching lightning bolts and setting free more trapped sprites.

Now Leo takes his vitamin every morning with a smile. You never know what magic might be inside!
