The Lightning Vitamin

Lily hated her morning vitamin. Every day, her mom handed her the orange chewable tablet, and every day, Lily pretended to swallow it then secretly tucked it behind her tooth. But today was different—today was swimming lessons, and Lily was terrified.

At the pool, Lily clung to the edge while her friends splashed and laughed. The water looked deep and dark, full of mysterious shadows. What if something lurked below?

Suddenly, CRACK! A brilliant bolt of lightning flashed outside the huge windows. Everyone gasped. But something strange happened—Lily felt her hidden vitamin dissolve in her mouth, glowing with a warm, tingly sensation.

The lightning had struck the pool's lightning rod, but magical sparkles danced across the water's surface. And there, swimming right toward Lily, was the most amazing sight—a tiny glowing fish made entirely of golden light!

"Come play!" the fish bubbled, and Lily swear she could understand it. "The storm lights up the whole ocean underneath us. Want to see?"

Before Lily could answer, the vitamin's magic surged through her. She let go of the pool edge and dipped her face underwater. The pool bottom had transformed! Colorful coral gardens glowed, friendly fish of every color swam in dancing patterns, and shimmering pearls decorated the sandy floor like tiny moons.

Lily swam deeper, and the magic fish led her to an enormous treasure chest. Inside weren't gold coins but glowing vitamins of every color—red for bravery, blue for calm, green for joy.

"These are sunshine vitamins," the fish explained. "They're stored in underwater caves during storms. Each one helps someone who's afraid."

Lily's chest swelled with courage. She grabbed a handful of vitamins and swam back to share with her frightened friends. But as she broke the surface, the magical world faded.

Her instructor cheered. "Lily! You were underwater so long! Are you okay?"

Lily beamed. "I'm wonderful! I went on an adventure!" She climbed out, dripping and triumphant.

That night, Lily took her vitamin without hiding it. She closed her eyes, remembering the glowing fish and magical underwater world. And somewhere deep beneath the earth, in a secret underwater cave, a little light fish smiled, waiting for the next storm to bring another scared child a magical swimming adventure.
