The Lightning Storm's Secret Friend
Ten-year-old Lily loved watching storms from her bedroom window. But tonight, the lightning flashed brighter than ever before—so bright it made her room sparkle like a treasure chest full of diamonds.
CRASH! Thunder shook the house. Lily jumped, then noticed something strange in her garden. A small figure shuffled through the rain. It looked like a zombie! It had pale green skin, messy hair, and walked all wobbly.
Lily wanted to hide, but her heart said something else. This zombie didn't look scary—it looked lost and lonely. It kept bumping into things, tripping over its own feet.
"Are you okay?" Lily called, opening her window.
The zombie looked up with sad, puppy-dog eyes. It tried to speak, but only made soft squeaking sounds.
Lily grabbed her yellow raincoat and ran outside. "Come inside! You're all wet!"
The zombie followed her inside, dripping water everywhere. Lily wrapped it in a fluffy towel and gave it hot cocoa with extra marshmallows.
"I'm Lily," she said gently. "What's your name?"
The zombie pointed to a tag on its shirt: Z.
"Nice to meet you, Z," Lily smiled. "Don't worry. You're safe here."
Z's eyes lit up like birthday candles. For the first time, Lily noticed something magical—tiny lightning bolts danced around Z's head whenever it smiled!
"You're not a zombie," Lily gasped. "You're a magical storm creature!"
Z nodded happily. The lightning outside suddenly stopped, and a beautiful rainbow appeared.
"The lightning wasn't scary," Lily realized. "It was just trying to bring you to me!"
From that night on, whenever storms came, Lily knew her friend Z would visit. She learned that sometimes the scariest things turn out to be the most wonderful surprises—and that true friends come in all shapes and sizes, even wobbly, magical ones from storm clouds.
