The Lightning Sprite's Storm Vitamins
Leo was a quiet boy who loved storms more than anything. While other children hid indoors when thunder rumbled, Leo pressed his nose against the window, watching the sky dance.
One rainy afternoon, something amazing happened. A tiny spark fell from the clouds and landed in Leo's garden. It wasn't dangerous—it was a small glowing creature made entirely of lightning!
"Hello!" the spark chirped. "I'm Zap. I fell from my cloud family during that last storm. Can you help me get home?"
Leo's eyes widened. This was the most wonderful thing that had ever happened to him. "I'll help you, Zap! But how? You live so high up."
Zap buzzed thoughtfully. "The journey is long. You'll need something special to keep your energy up. Do you know about storm vitamins?"
Leo shook his head.
"They're rare berries that grow only during thunderstorms," Zap explained. "Grandmother Oak knows where to find them. If you eat one, you can run as fast as the wind!"
Running fast sounded like an adventure to Leo. Together, they found Grandmother Oak, an ancient tree with roots twisted like wise old fingers. From her branches hung clusters of glowing blue berries.
"Take three," the tree whispered. "One for the journey up, one for courage, and one for kindness."
Leo ate the first storm vitamin. Suddenly, his feet felt light as air. He began running—faster than he'd ever run before—past the babbling brook, through the whispering meadow, all the way to the base of Sky-High Hill.
Zap guided him while humming little songs that made the grass glow green. They became the best of friends, sharing stories and laughter.
Halfway up, Leo grew tired. He ate the second storm vitamin and felt braver than a lion. The wind howled, and shadows stretched long, but Leo kept climbing, with Zap glowing bright as a lantern beside him.
At the top, Zap's cloud family appeared in a magnificent array. But they couldn't come down—the air was too still. They needed lightning to bridge the gap.
"I can't go home yet," Zap said sadly. "There's no storm."
Leo looked at his last storm vitamin. He knew what he had to do.
"You gave me friendship and adventure," Leo said, tears in his eyes. "Now I'll give you something back."
He threw the final vitamin into the sky, where it burst into a beautiful lightning bolt. Zap's family rushed down, creating a shimmering bridge of light.
"Thank you, Leo!" Zap called, dancing up the lightning path. "You're my forever friend!"
Every storm after that, Leo would see a tiny spark dancing in the clouds, waving hello. And sometimes, when he really needed it, a single glowing blue berry would appear on his windowsill—reminding him that true magic isn't about running fast or doing amazing tricks. It's about kindness and the friends we make along the way.
