The Lightning Sprite's Secret Pool
Lily loved storms. While other children hid under blankets, she pressed her nose against the window, watching the sky dance.
One rainy afternoon, Lily was running through puddles in her yellow rain boots when she saw something strange. A tiny creature, no bigger than her thumb, zipped through the air trailing sparks like a shooting star. It landed right in a muddy puddle at her feet.
"Hello!" said the creature, who glowed softly like a night-light. "I'm Zap, a lightning sprite!"
Lily gasped. "You're REAL?"
"Of course!" Zap twinkled. "Want to see something magical?"
Zap snapped his fingers, and the puddle transformed. The muddy water swirled with rainbow colors, becoming the clearest pool Lily had ever seen. Through its surface, she could see an entire world underneath — crystal castles, glowing flowers, and tiny creatures dancing.
"This is the Sky Pool," Zap explained. "It appears only during storms, connecting our world to the Cloud Kingdom above."
Lily reached out, and her finger touched the water. Suddenly, she could hear giggling and music from below.
"The lightning you see in storms?" Zap said. "That's us having parties! We slide down raindrops as natural slides, and when we splash, the sky lights up with joy!"
Lily laughed. "I always thought thunder was scary."
"Only if you don't know it's celebrating!" Zap did a little spin, sending mini sparks everywhere. "Would you like to visit the Cloud Kingdom?"
"Yes!" Lily clapped her hands.
Zap took her hand, and together they stepped into the magical pool. Down they went, sliding through swirling blue light, until they landed in a world made entirely of clouds.
For hours, Lily played with lightning sprites, sliding down rainbows and jumping on cloud trampolines. She learned that storms weren't scary — they were nature's way of celebrating with rain and light.
When it was time to go home, Zap hugged her. "Come back whenever it storms. Look for the puddle that shimmers like stars."
Lily waved goodbye and popped back up through the pool, now just a regular puddle again. Running home in her rain boots, she knew she'd never fear storms again.
From that day on, whenever Lily saw lightning flash, she smiled, knowing her friends were dancing in the sky. And sometimes, if she looked closely at certain puddles, she could see them waving back.
