The Lightning Sprite's Secret

Maya loved stormy days. While other kids hid under blankets, she pressed her nose against the window, watching the sky dance.

One evening, a bolt of lightning struck the old oak tree in her yard. CRACK! Sparks flew everywhere. Maya ran outside and found something amazing in her palm—a tiny creature no bigger than a strawberry, with wild blue hair that crackled like tiny fireworks.

"Please help me," squeaked the little sprite. "I'm a lightning sprite, and I was spying on the Storm King's castle when my friend got trapped!"

Maya had never met a magical creature before. "I'll help you find your friend!"

The lightning sprite, whose name was Zappy, led Maya to a hollow in the oak tree. Inside, another sprite was stuck in a spiderweb made of storm clouds.

"Don't worry," Maya said gently. She used a stick to carefully free the trapped sprite, who had soft pink hair and a grateful smile.

"Thank you!" said the new sprite, whose name was Sparkle. "You're a true friend."

Zappy and Sparkle showed Maya something magical—they made pictures in the air with tiny lightning bolts. They drew hearts, stars, and even Maya's smiling face.

"You're not just regular lightning sprites," Maya realized. "You're artists!"

"That's why I was spying on the Storm King," Zappy admitted. "He keeps all the beautiful lightning colors for himself. We wanted to borrow some for our art."

Maya thought for a moment. "Maybe you should ask him nicely instead of spying. Sharing is better than sneaking."

The sprites looked at each other. "You're right," said Sparkle. "Will you come with us to talk to the Storm King?"

Maya nodded. Together, they climbed the tallest tree and reached the clouds. The Storm King turned out to be lonely—he was happy to share his colorful lightning with someone who wanted to make beautiful art.

From that day on, Maya became the sky's special helper. During every storm, Zappy and Sparkle painted amazing pictures across the sky, and Maya watched from her window, knowing that friendship and kindness were the most powerful magic of all.
