The Lightning Sphinx's Secret Friend
Emma loved stormy nights. When lightning flashed across the sky, she would press her nose against the window glass and count the seconds until thunder rumbled. But tonight was different.
A crack of lightning struck so close that her room filled with blinding white light. When Emma blinked her eyes open, something amazing stood on her windowsill—a small golden sphinx with sparkling emerald eyes, no bigger than her cat, Mittens.
"Greetings, young friend," the sphinx spoke in a voice like wind chimes. "I am Cleo, and I need your help. I'm on a secret mission to spy on the Shadow Mischief-Makers who steal dreams from sleeping children."
Emma's heart raced with excitement. A real sphinx! In her room! And she needed help protecting dreams!
"But I don't have any magical powers," Emma said.
Cleo smiled mysteriously. "You have something better." She tapped Emma's iPhone with her paw. The phone suddenly glowed with golden light. "Your little device can now see what no one else can—the invisible dreams floating around us."
Emma grabbed her phone and gasped. Through the screen, she could see shimmering bubbles drifting outside her window—children's dreams!
"The Shadow Mischief-Makers are coming," Cleo warned. "Quick, use your phone to follow them!"
Emma and Cleo followed the shadowy figures through the stormy night, using her magical phone to track them. When they caught the mischievous creatures trying to pop a dream bubble, Emma had an idea.
"Hey!" she called, making lightning flash with her phone's special new power. "You forgot something! Dreams can't be caught by shadows—you have to believe in them first!"
The Shadow Mischief-Makers were so surprised that they tumbled over each other and vanished into poofy clouds.
Cleo purred with happiness. "You see? The magic was inside you all along—kindness, bravery, and friendship. Now, my new friend, will you help me protect dreams again tomorrow night?"
Emma hugged her golden friend. "Always."
And every stormy night after that, when lightning flashed across the sky, Emma and Cleo would soar through the clouds, best friends on the most magical adventure ever.
