The Lightning Sphinx and the Magic Orange

Lily was playing in her garden when the sky turned purple. Lightning flashed—CRACK! BOOM!—and something enormous landed in the pumpkin patch.

It was a sphinx, with the body of a golden lion and the head of a wise owl. His feathers shimmered like rainbows.

"Oh dear," the sphinx sighed, his voice like wind chimes. "I've lost my magic orange. Without it, I cannot fly home."

Lily's eyes went wide. "A magic orange? What does it do?"

"It contains the Lightning Vitamin!" the sphinx explained. "It gives creatures courage and speed. But I dropped it somewhere when the storm began."

"I'll help you find it!" Lily said bravely.

Together they searched. Lily checked under the rosebushes. The sphinx peeked behind the oak tree. Suddenly, more lightning flashed—ZZZT!—and Lily spotted something glowing near the garden gate.

"There!" she pointed.

The orange wasn't ordinary. It pulsed with golden light, like a tiny sun.

"You found it!" The sphinx's eyes sparkled with gratitude. "You showed courage, Lily—you didn't even need the Lightning Vitamin to be brave."

He peeled the orange. Inside, the juice shimmered like liquid starlight.

"Take the first segment," the sphinx said. "You earned it."

Lily ate it. WHOOSH! She felt warm all over, like sunshine on a cold day.

"Thank you!" she cried.

"Thank YOU, new friend." The sphinx spread his wings, which blazed with lightning now. "Whenever you need courage, remember—you already have it inside you."

He soared into the clouds, leaving a trail of sparkles. Lily waved, feeling strong and brave. She hadn't just helped a magical creature. She had discovered something even more magical: the power of kindness and true friendship.

And sometimes, the real magic was inside her all along.
