The Lightning Salad Adventure

One sunny afternoon, young Maya sat in the backyard watching her older brother practice baseball. The ball went *crack* every time he hit it, soaring high into the bright blue sky. Maya dreamed of hitting the ball just like him, but she was too small.

Suddenly, gray clouds gathered overhead. A flash of lightning streaked across the sky like nature's very own fireworks! A single raindrop splashed on Maya's nose. *Splat!* Then another. Everyone ran inside, but Maya spotted something curious in the garden.

A small, glowing spinach plant was shimmering in the rain. Its leaves sparkled like tiny emeralds. Maya crouched down and gasped when the plant spoke in a tiny, squeaky voice.

"I'm Sparky the Spinach Sprite! You're not scared of the storm?" The little green creature blinked up at her.

Maya shook her head. "I think storms are magical."

Sparky hopped onto her shoulder. "I need help! My friends are trapped in the old baseball field. The storm washed them away!"

Without hesitation, Maya started running toward the field. Her bare feet splashed through puddles. Lightning flashed again, and for a moment, she saw tiny green lights flickering near home plate.

"There they are!" cried Sparky.

Maya found three more spinach sprites huddled under a baseball cap, shivering and scared. She carefully gathered them up, one by one, tucking them into her pockets.

"Thank you for saving us!" said the smallest sprite. "You're brave and kind. We want to give you something special."

The sprites sprinkled glowing green dust over Maya's old baseball glove. Suddenly, it felt lighter than air, and her confidence grew stronger.

"Believe in yourself, and you'll always hit your mark," Sparky whispered as the rain slowed.

The sprites returned to their magical garden, but Maya never forgot their lesson. The next day at baseball practice, something amazing happened. When she stepped up to the plate, she remembered the spinach sprites' bravery. She swung with all her might, and *whoosh*—the ball went flying!

Sometimes, the best friends come in the smallest packages, and courage comes from the most unexpected places. Maya learned that helping others, even tiny spinach sprites, gives you the power to do great things.

And whenever she sees lightning during a storm, she smiles, thinking of her magical friends and their wonderful adventure together.
