The Lightning's Secret

Mia loved her backyard pool more than anything. Every summer day, she'd splash and swim until her toes wrinkled. But during thunderstorms, her dad always made her come inside.

"Lightning and pools don't mix," he'd say.

One afternoon, while Mia watched raindrops hit the pool cover, something magical happened. A brilliant bolt of lightning flashed across the sky - STRIKE! The raindrops suddenly arranged themselves into a perfect glowing pyramid on the pool cover.

Mia gasped. The pyramid spun like a top, then transformed into a tiny girl made of raindrops.

"Hello!" said the raindrop girl. "I'm Lumi. I've been waiting for someone brave enough to see me during a storm."

"But my dad says lightning and pools are dangerous," Mia whispered.

"Only when people forget respect," Lumi said. "Come with me. There's something wonderful I want to show you."

Mia stepped outside (keeping safely under the porch roof). Lumi spun again, and suddenly the pool cover vanished. Beneath the water, Mia could see a magnificent crystal pyramid shining with rainbow light.

"That's where I live," Lumi said. "But I'm lonely. Would you like to visit?"

Mia nodded eagerly.

Lumi clapped her hands, and the pool water turned into a swirl of sparkles. Mia found herself standing inside the crystal pyramid, which was filled with rooms made of clouds and floors made of moonbeams. Lightning butterflies flitted everywhere, leaving trails of glitter.

"I collect stories from children who watch storms," Lumi explained, showing Mia shelves lined with glowing jars. "But I've never had a friend to share them with."

Mia spent magical hours exploring the pyramid, playing cloud-ball with lightning butterflies, and listening to stories about children around the world who loved watching storms just like her.

When the storm passed, Lumi gave Mia a tiny lightning crystal on a silver chain. "Now you can visit anytime," Lumi said. "But remember - the magic works because you respect the storm."

Mia swam back up through the sparkling water. The pyramid dissolved into raindrops as the sun came out.

That night, Mia's dad found her sleeping with a smile, wearing a silver chain with a crystal that still glowed. Some secrets are too wonderful to keep completely - but some magic is meant just for you and a friend who understands.

And every storm after that, Mia would wave at the raindrops, knowing her friend Lumi was waiting, ready for another adventure in the lightning pool's secret pyramid.
