The Lightning's Magic Gift

Lily loved summer evenings. She would sit by the backyard pool, watching the sky turn purple and pink. One night, as thunder rumbled in the distance, something strange happened.

A flash of lightning split the sky! CRACK! BOOM! Lily jumped, then noticed something glowing in the pool. She crept closer, peeking over the edge.

There floated an orange—not a regular orange, but one that shimmered with golden light, pulsing like a tiny heart. As another flash of lightning illuminated the yard, the orange bobbed and winked at her!

Lily reached in carefully. The moment her fingers touched the fruit, the pool water began to swirl. Sparkles danced across the surface. The orange grew warm in her hand, filling her with a tingly feeling, like bubbles in her nose.

"Are you magic?" Lily whispered.

The orange didn't speak, but it showed her something. In the water's reflection, Lily saw other children—children she'd never met—children who looked lonely, just like she sometimes felt after moving to a new town.

The lightning flashed again, and suddenly Lily understood. The magic orange was a gift from the storm, meant to be shared. She broke it open, and inside were seeds that glowed like tiny stars.

She planted one seed by the pool. Another she gave to her neighbor Marcos, who stood at his fence, watching the storm with wide eyes. "For you," she said.

Marcos grinned. Together they watched as the seeds sprouted instantly into small orange trees, their fruits glowing softly in the rain.

The pool water sparkled with joy. The lightning above seemed to dance with approval. Lily had learned that magic isn't about keeping wonderful things to yourself—it's about sharing them, especially when someone else needs a friend.

As the storm passed, Lily and Marcos sat by the pool, eating magical orange slices that tasted like sunshine and friendship. The lightning was gone, but its gift remained: new friends, and the knowledge that sharing makes every gift brighter.
