The Lightning's Golden Game
Leo loved baseball more than anything, but he dreaded summer storms. Thunder made his heart race, and lightning sent him scrambling under his bed.
One afternoon, dark clouds gathered as Leo walked home from practice. CRACK! A bolt of lightning struck the old museum, and something magical happened. A creature emerged from the rooftop—part lion, part human, with wings that shimmered like captured sunshine. A sphinx!
"Young one," the sphinx rumbled, her voice like distant thunder, "you've been chosen for the Lightning Baseball League."
Leo's knees trembled, but curiosity won. "Me? But I'm afraid of storms!"
"Courage isn't being fearless," the sphinx said wisely. "It's playing despite your fears."
She tossed him a baseball that glowed golden, then spread her mighty wings. Together they soared through the clouds to a magical diamond floating in the sky. There, players made of lightning and starlight waited.
"Hit this ball," the sphinx instructed, "and you'll never fear storms again."
Leo gripped the glowing bat. His hands shook, but he remembered his teammates, his dreams, and all the times he'd wanted to quit but didn't. He swung.
CRACK! The ball exploded into a thousand lightning butterflies, painting the sky with brilliant colors. The thunder became applause, and the storm transformed into a celebration.
"You did it!" the sphinx cheered. "Remember this feeling whenever storms come."
Leo woke in his bed, the storm outside now beautiful instead of scary. Clutched in his hand lay a small golden baseball—proof that even the most frightening things can become magical adventures with courage and friendship.
