The Lightning's Gift

poollightningfriend

Lily peeked through her bedroom curtains as rain tapped against the glass. Thunder rumbled softly in the distance, but she wasn't afraid. She was curious.

In her backyard, the swimming pool shimmered under the gray sky. Raindrops created tiny ripples across the surface, making dancing patterns that reminded Lily of fairy wings.

Suddenly, a brilliant flash of lightning illuminated the whole yard. For just a moment, the pool glowed with an otherworldly blue light. And then Lily saw something impossible.

A small creature, no bigger than her hand, floated above the water. It had delicate wings that sparkled like tiny stars and a smile that radiated pure warmth.

"Hello!" the creature called out, its voice sounding like wind chimes. "I'm Flash!"

Lily rubbed her eyes. "You're... you're real?"

Flash did a joyful spin in the air. "I'm a lightning spirit! I visit special pools during storms. Would you like to see something magical?"

Before Lily could answer, another lightning bolt streaked across the sky. Flash darted toward it, catching a piece of the lightning like a firefly catching moonlight. The sprite returned, holding a glowing spark that pulsed with gentle energy.

"This is for you," Flash said, placing the spark in Lily's palm. "Whenever you feel afraid, remember that even storms have beauty. And even in the darkest moments, there's always light."

The spark transformed into a small crystal that still glowed softly.

"Thank you!" Lily whispered.

"We're friends now," Flash beamed. "Friends help each other see the magic in everything."

As the storm passed, Flash faded into the clouds. But Lily kept the crystal by her bed, a reminder that the best gifts often arrive when you least expect them—and sometimes, the most wonderful friends find you in the most surprising moments.
