The Lightning's Baseball Game
Leo loved his red baseball cap more than anything. It wasn't just a hat—it was his lucky charm. Every time he wore it, amazing things happened.
One warm afternoon, Leo was running across the grassy field behind his house, baseball glove in hand, ready for practice. The sky suddenly darkened. CRACK! A bolt of lightning flashed, striking the old oak tree at the edge of the woods.
But this lightning didn't burn. Instead, it shimmered like stardust and transformed into a small, glowing boy about Leo's age.
"Wow!" Leo breathed.
"Hi!" the glowing boy said. "I'm Finn. I've been watching you play. Want to play baseball?"
Leo couldn't believe his eyes. A friend made of lightning wanted to play!
They tossed the baseball back and forth. Finn threw with the speed of a thunderclap! Leo caught every ball, his heart pounding with excitement.
"You're amazing!" Leo laughed.
"You're pretty fast yourself," Finn smiled. "But I have to go soon. Storms don't last forever."
Leo's smile faded. "Will I ever see you again?"
Finn placed a glowing hand on Leo's shoulder. "Whenever you hear thunder, put on your cap and look for me. Storms always come back."
With one last brilliant flash, Finn vanished into the clouds.
Leo stood alone in the field, but he didn't feel lonely. He touched his red cap and smiled. Some friends, he realized, are made of lightning and magic—the kind that return when you least expect them, brightening even the darkest days.
And every time thunder rumbled, Leo would grab his glove and his lucky cap, ready for his lightning friend to come play again.
