The Lightning Pyramid's Secret

Maya discovered the small golden pyramid hidden beneath a stack of dusty board games in her attic. It hummed with a strange warmth, and when she touched it, tiny sparks danced across her fingers like friendly fireflies.

Outside, thunder rumbled. A summer lightning storm was approaching.

Suddenly, a brilliant bolt of lightning struck somewhere nearby, and the pyramid blazed with light.

The world tilted sideways. Maya found herself inside the pyramid's glowing walls. A small green figure shuffled toward her—what looked like a zombie, but with kind eyes and wearing a sparkling crown.

"I am Zara," the creature said in a voice like wind chimes. "Keeper of the Lightning Pyramid."

Maya stepped back, but Zara smiled gently. "Don't be afraid. I'm not scary. I'm what happens when magic forgets to be frightening."

Zara explained that the pyramid collected courage from lightning strikes and shared it with children who faced their fears. The zombie appearance was to test if people would judge by looks or see with their hearts.

"Every night, lightning fills this pyramid with bravery," Zara said. "But only someone kind enough to see past appearances can use its magic."

Maya had passed the test.

The pyramid glowed brighter, and suddenly Maya understood—true courage means being kind even when things seem scary. The zombie guardian wasn't frightening at all; she was magical and misunderstood.

Maya promised to visit often, bringing her own courage to add to the pyramid's collection. Zara gave her a tiny lightning-shaped crystal that would glow whenever Maya needed to remember: real bravery is seeing with your heart, not just your eyes.

Back in her room, the storm had passed. The golden pyramid sat on her nightstand, still humming with ancient magic. Maya clutched her lightning crystal and knew she would never judge by appearances again.
