The Lightning Pyramid Quest
Emma loved her grandpa's old purple hat. It was too big, and it slipped over her eyes, but Grandpa said it was magical. "This hat sees what others cannot," he whispered with a wink.
One rainy afternoon, Emma was playing on her iphone when lightning flashed so bright it made her screen glow purple. suddenly, her phone showed something strange—a glowing pyramid spinning like a top!
"Come find us," whispered a voice from the phone. Emma grabbed her hat and followed the glowing map through her backyard, past the oak tree, and into the woods where she'd never explored before.
There, in a clearing, stood a small crystal pyramid about as tall as her knee. But something was wrong—it was gray and dull, not shining at all.
Then she saw him—a zombie boy named Zedd, but not the scary kind from movies. He looked sad and lonely, with leaves tangled in his messy green hair. "I'm not scary," Zedd said. "I'm just lonely. The lightning hit this pyramid and stole all its magic. Now it won't sparkle, and neither will I."
Emma's heart went out to him. "Maybe my magic hat can help!"
She placed the purple hat on the pyramid's tip. Lightning crashed again—BOOM!—and a bolt of purple lightning struck the hat, sending magical sparkles everywhere!
The pyramid began to glow gold, then silver, then rainbow colors. Zedd's green hair turned bright orange, his gray skin became pink and rosy, and his eyes twinkled like stars.
"Thank you!" Zedd cheered, doing a happy dance. "I was under a spell. Only true friendship and bravery could break it!"
Emma had made her first magical friend. And whenever she wore Grandpa's purple hat and lightning flashed, she knew Zedd was nearby, ready for another adventure.
That night, Emma wrote in her diary: Sometimes the scariest things just need a friend. And sometimes magic is hiding in the most unexpected places—even in an old purple hat.
