The Lightning Pyramid Quest

lightningpyramidbaseballpalmgoldfish

Maya's favorite **goldfish**, Sparkle, was not like other fish. While other fish swam in circles, Sparkle liked to leap out of her bowl and catch fireflies in her mouth.

"You're magical," Maya whispered, watching Sparkle glow with tiny lights.

One night, Sparkle swam to the surface and spoke. "Maya, I need your help. The Lightning Pyramid is fading!"

Maya's eyes widened. "The what?"

"In the backyard! Under the old **palm** tree!" Sparkle's fins shimmered. "It's made of pure lightning, trapped inside crystal. It keeps all dreams safe. But it's dying, and nightmares are escaping!"

Grabbing her favorite **baseball** bat for protection, Maya followed Sparkle outside. The moon hung bright as a silver coin.

Beneath the palm tree, Sparkle nudged the dirt with her nose. A crack appeared, then another, until the ground split open. Below lay a magnificent **pyramid** made entirely of crackling blue **lightning**, frozen inside a crystal shell. But the bolts were dimming, flickering like a dying candle.

"What do we do?" Maya cried.

"We must wake it up!" Sparkle said. "Hit your baseball against the crystal! Your bat holds the magic of a thousand home runs!"

Maya swung. *CLANG!* The crystal rang like a bell. The lightning stirred.

*CLANG! CLANG!* Maya hit again and again. Each strike made the lightning brighter.

Suddenly, the pyramid erupted in blinding light. A beam shot into the sky, painting the clouds in rainbows. Dreams flowed back in—floating boats, candy mountains, flying whales.

"You did it!" Sparkle cheered.

The next morning, Maya's mom called, "Time for **baseball** practice!"

Maya grinned, patting her pocket where Sparkle now lived in a tiny magical pouch. Some nights, they still visited the Lightning Pyramid, feeding it dreams and keeping nightmares far away.

Because friendship, like lightning, shines brightest in the dark.
