The Lightning Pyramid Mystery

Maya loved exploring her grandmother's attic on rainy afternoons. The air smelled of old books and sweet **orange** peels from the fruit basket downstairs. Thunder rumbled outside, making the attic windows tremble.

Behind a dusty trunk, something shiny caught her eye. It was a tiny golden **pyramid**, no bigger than her thumb, glowing with an inner light. As Maya touched it, the room filled with brilliant **lightning**—but it didn't scare her. Instead, it felt warm, like a hug from the sun.

The pyramid transported her to a magical desert island where gentle waves lapped at white sand. A tall **palm** tree leaned over the crystal-clear water, its green fronds dancing in the breeze.

"Welcome!" said a friendly voice. Maya turned to see a small green figure—a **zombie**! But this wasn't a scary monster. He wore a flowered shirt and offered her a coconut. "I'm Zed," he said with a crooked smile. "I'm the guardian of the Lightning Pyramid. And you must be special if it brought you here."

Maya laughed when Zed told her he collected friendship bracelets instead of brains. "People think I'm scary because of how I look," Zed sighed. "But I just want someone to play with."

"I'll play with you!" Maya said, and they spent the afternoon building sand castles and sharing stories. As sunset painted the sky pink and gold, the pyramid glowed again.

"Will you visit again?" Zed asked, his eyes hopeful.

"Every time it rains," Maya promised.

Back in the attic, the thunder had stopped. Grandma called up the stairs: "Maya! Come have some **orange** slices!"

Maya touched the golden pyramid in her pocket and smiled. She'd learned something magical today: sometimes the scariest-looking things hold the most beautiful friendships, and true friends are found in the most unexpected places.
