The Lightning Pyramid Ball

Ten-year-old Leo loved baseball more than anything. Every day after school, he'd grab his glove and practice pitching in the backyard. But tonight, something strange was happening.

A storm was brewing. Purple and blue lightning flashed across the sky like giant fireflies. Leo watched from his window, clutching his favorite baseball.

Suddenly, a bolt of lightning struck the middle of his backyard! But instead of burning the grass, it built something—a glowing pyramid made of pure light, spinning slowly like a top.

Leo's heart pounded. He crept outside, baseball still in hand. The pyramid hummed with energy, tiny sparks dancing around its edges.

"Hello?" Leo whispered.

The pyramid crackled happily. To Leo's amazement, it spoke! Not with words, but with pictures in his mind. It showed him storm clouds playing games, tossing lightning back and forth like balls. It showed him how lonely the lightning felt, always flashing and disappearing, never able to play properly.

The pyramid wanted to learn baseball.

Leo stepped closer. "I'll teach you!"

For an hour, in the magical light of the pyramid, Leo taught the lightning spirit how to pitch. The pyramid would absorb Leo's throws, then send them back as gentle sparks. They played catch until the storm clouds drifted away.

"You're a natural!" Leo laughed.

Before the lightning faded back into the sky, it left Leo a gift—the pyramid now hovered above his baseball glove, a tiny permanent guardian. Whenever lightning storms came, Leo would rush outside, and the pyramid would glow excitedly, ready for their special game.

Leo learned that even the wildest things in nature just wanted to belong. And sometimes, the best friends are the ones you least expect—even ones made of lightning and shaped like pyramids.

Now whenever Leo sees lightning flash across the sky, he waves. And sometimes, just sometimes, a single bolt dances back, like a baseball spinning toward home plate.
