The Lightning Pyramid
Leo loved baseball more than anything. Every afternoon, he'd practice pitching in his backyard, dreaming of becoming a famous player one day.
One stormy evening, as lightning flashed across the sky, Leo noticed something glowing in the grass. It was a tiny pyramid, no bigger than a marble, shimmering with golden light. Curious, he picked it up and held it in his palm.
Suddenly, the pyramid grew warm. Strange images flickered inside it—like a secret spy camera peeking into another world. Leo gasped as he saw miniature lightning bolts playing baseball! They zoomed around an invisible diamond field, hitting clouds that acted like baseballs.
"Want to play?" a tiny voice squeaked.
Leo looked down. The lightning pyramid was glowing brighter now. "Who said that?"
"We did!" A spark of lightning jumped from the pyramid and danced on his palm. "We're the Lightning League. We love baseball too!"
Leo's eyes widened. "You can play baseball?"
"Watch this!" The spark zipped into the air, grabbed a passing raindrop, and hit it with a crack of thunder. It sailed over the fence—a home run!
"That's amazing!" Leo cheered. "But why show me?"
The little spark softened. "Because you're kind to all creatures, big and small. Last week, you saved that butterfly from the rain. Lightning may seem scary, but we just want to have fun too."
Leo understood. Sometimes things that seem frightening are just lonely and want friendship.
"Teach me your pitch," Leo said.
All night, the lightning bolts taught Leo their special tricks. They showed him how to read the wind, how to move like electricity, and how to always keep his heart full of wonder.
The next morning, the pyramid sat quietly on Leo's windowsill. But during his baseball game that afternoon, something magical happened. Leo pitched the fastest, most amazing ball anyone had ever seen.
"How did you DO that?" his teammates asked, eyes wide.
Leo just smiled and touched his palm, where a tiny warmth remained. "Sometimes," he said, "you just need the right friends—even the ones who live in lightning."
And whenever storms came after that, Leo never felt scared. He just winked at the sky, knowing his lightning friends were up there, playing the most spectacular baseball game anyone could imagine.
