The Lightning Pyramid

Maya couldn't sleep. Thunder rumbled outside her window, and suddenly—FLASH! A bolt of lightning lit up the whole backyard. But this wasn't ordinary lightning. It was purple and sparkled like fairy dust.

Maya's dog Barnaby always knew when something magical was happening. He jumped up and wagged his tail, barking softly at the garden shed.

"What is it, boy?" Maya whispered.

She tiptoed outside, still in her pajamas, and there it was—a glowing pyramid made of crystal light, right where the old oak tree stood. The pyramid hummed with a gentle melody, like wind chimes.

Barnaby ran straight toward it, and Maya followed. The pyramid's walls shimmered, and suddenly someone stepped out.

It looked like a zombie—greenish skin, tangled hair, clothes that had seen better days. Maya wanted to run, but Barnaby stayed calm, wagging his tail.

The zombie-looking figure smiled. "I'm Zara," she said kindly. "I've been trapped in that pyramid for one hundred years. I'm not scary—I'm just lonely. And my magic only works when someone brave enough to give me a chance sets me free."

Maya's eyes widened. "You're magical?"

Zara nodded, and flowers bloomed around her feet. "I can make dreams come true. But only for true friends."

Maya realized something important. Zara looked different, but she was kind and magical. Sometimes the scariest-looking things just need a friend.

"I'll be your friend," Maya said, and Barnaby barked in agreement.

Zara clapped her hands, and suddenly Maya's favorite stuffed animal appeared, now alive and magical too. Then Zara created a shield of golden light around their house to protect it forever.

"Thank you for seeing who I really am," Zara said. "That's the truest magic of all."

The next morning, the pyramid was gone, but Zara's gifts remained. And Maya learned that real friends don't judge by appearances—they look with their hearts.
