The Lightning Pyramid

Maya and Leo loved exploring the river behind their house. Every day after school, they would skip stones and search for treasures in the cool rushing water.

One afternoon, dark clouds gathered overhead. A storm was coming fast. Maya grabbed Leo's hand. "We should go home!"

But then Leo pointed. "Maya, look!" In the middle of the river, something was glowing beneath the surface. It grew brighter as the sky darkened.

As the first crack of lightning flashed across the sky, the water around the glowing spot began to bubble. Maya and Leo watched in wonder. Through the splashing waves, they could see it—a beautiful pyramid made of crystal, rising from the riverbed!

"It's magic," whispered Maya.

Another bolt of lightning struck nearby, and the pyramid pulsed with blue light. Strange symbols appeared on its crystal sides. The water around it stopped bubbling and turned perfectly still, like a mirror.

"What do we do?" asked Leo, his eyes wide.

Maya thought carefully. "The lightning is waking it up. Maybe it needs something from us."

Together, they stepped into the shallow water. As they approached, the pyramid's symbols glowed warmer. Maya placed her hand on the crystal side. Leo did the same.

Suddenly, the pyramid shot a beam of light into the sky—straight through the storm clouds! The rain stopped falling. The lightning danced around the beam instead of striking the ground. It was beautiful.

The pyramid spoke in their minds: *Thank you, friends. For centuries, I have slept beneath the water. Your courage awakened me. Now I can protect this river forever.*

The pyramid sank slowly back into the water, but Maya and Leo could feel its presence—guarding the river, making sure it stayed clean and safe.

"We'll never forget this," Leo promised.

Maya smiled. "And we'll never stop exploring. You never know what magic is hiding right under your nose."

Hand in hand, they ran home through the clearing storm, rainbows stretching across the sky behind them.
