The Lightning Pyramid

Leo loved baseball more than anything. Every afternoon after school, he and his best friend Maya would practice behind the old community center. Leo could hit the ball so hard it seemed to disappear into the clouds.

One hot afternoon, dark clouds gathered suddenly. The air felt heavy and electric. Just as Leo wound up for his biggest swing ever, a brilliant bolt of lightning struck the field!

But instead of a burn mark, the lightning had left something amazing—a glowing pyramid made of pure light, right there on the pitcher's mound.

"Whoa!" breathed Maya, dropping her glove.

The pyramid pulsed with warm colors—gold, pink, and soft blue. From inside came a tiny voice: "We've been waiting for someone brave enough to join our game."

Leo and Maya stepped closer. Inside the light pyramid, they could see tiny lightning people playing baseball with balls made of stars!

"We're the Cloud Champions," said the smallest lightning spark, bouncing on what looked like a miniature cloud. "Our running bases are rainbows. Want to play?"

The children nodded eagerly.

Suddenly, Leo found himself standing on a floating cloud. The baseball diamond stretched across the sky. When he hit the star-ball, it exploded into a million tiny butterflies that rained down like joyful confetti.

Maya ran the bases—each base was a different color of the rainbow. She giggled as her feet left trails of sparkles. "This is the best game ever!"

The lightning players cheered and clapped with tiny thunderclaps that sounded like happy drumbeats.

But too soon, the voice grew soft. "It's time for us to return to the clouds. But remember—whenever you see lightning strike, think of us. The best games are the ones you share with friends."

The pyramid dissolved into sparkles that drifted upward.

Back on the regular baseball field, Leo and Maya stood in the warm rain.

"Did that really happen?" asked Leo, picking up his ordinary baseball.

Maya smiled and held up her hand. In her palm glowed a tiny star, still warm from the game. "I think our friendship just got a little more magical."

From that day on, every time they played baseball, Leo and Maya would look up at the clouds. And sometimes, just sometimes, they'd see a tiny pyramid of light flicker between the stars, reminding them that the most wonderful adventures happen when you're running through life with your best friend.
