The Lightning Pyramid
Lila loved running barefoot through the tall grass behind her house, especially when summer storms gathered. The air smelled like rain and magic. Her feet barely touched the ground as she raced the wind.
One afternoon, dark clouds rolled in faster than usual. Jagged bolts of lightning streaked across the sky, each one followed by thunder that rattled her windows. But Lila wasn't afraid. She grabbed her yellow rain boots and ran outside.
That's when she saw it—a perfect pyramid made entirely of light, standing right where the old oak tree used to be. It glowed with every color of the rainbow, pulsing like a heartbeat. The lightning pyramid hummed a melody she felt in her bones.
Lila stepped closer. "Hello?" she called out.
A tiny creature peeked from behind the glowing pyramid. He was no bigger than her hand, with silver skin that crackled like electricity and hair that stood up in spiky tufts.
"I'm Bolt!" he squeaked. "I made this pyramid for you."
"For me?" Lila asked, crouching down.
"I saw you running in the rain," Bolt said. "You looked lonely. I've been watching you from the clouds. I wanted to be your friend."
Lila's heart swelled. She had been lonely lately, ever since her best friend moved away. "I'd love that," she said.
Bolt took her hand. His touch felt like warm sparkles. "Step inside the pyramid! It's where imagination lives."
Inside, the walls shimmered with moving pictures—Lila as an astronaut, Lila discovering treasure, Lila painting masterpieces. The pyramid showed her all her dreams, all the things she could be.
"Every time you run toward something you love," Bolt explained, "you build a little pyramid of light inside yourself. And when you share those dreams with friends, the pyramids grow big enough to touch the stars."
Lila understood. Her imagination was her magic, and friends made it stronger.
"Will I see you again?" she asked.
"Whenever storm clouds gather," Bolt promised. "And whenever you need a friend, just close your eyes and remember—I'm lightning, but I'm also the light inside you."
The pyramid dissolved into a million fireflies, dancing around Lila before fading into the night. She ran home with her heart full, already planning her next adventure.
Some storms bring rain. But the best storms bring magic, friendship, and the courage to dream bigger than you ever imagined before.
