The Lightning Pool Secret

Lily loved storms. When the sky turned dark and rumbled like a hungry tummy, she pressed her nose against the window glass and watched. But tonight, something magical happened.

A flash of lightning illuminated her backyard, and for just a moment, Lily saw something glowing near the old pond. She grabbed her raincoat and boots—she was on a secret mission now, a spy ready to discover wonders.

The rain felt like tiny fingers tapping on her hood. Another lightning bolt crackled across the sky, and there it was again. The pool wasn't just a pool anymore. It was shimmering with rainbow lights, glowing from deep beneath the water.

"Wow," Lily whispered, leaning closer.

Suddenly, something popped up from the water—a small, wet creature with silvery skin and enormous eyes that twinkled like stars.

"Hello," it bubbled. "I'm Splash. Are you here for the lightning party?"

Lily's eyes went wide. "A party?"

"Only during storms!" Splash did a happy flip in the water. "When lightning dances, the pool grants wishes to curious spies like you."

A friend who granted wishes! Lily thought hard. "I wish... I wish I wasn't afraid of the dark anymore."

Splash smiled and clapped webbed hands. Lightning flashed again, and Splash caught the glow in his hands like a firefly. He placed it gently on a lily pad and pushed it toward Lily.

"Now you carry a piece of lightning's bravery," Splash said. "Whenever you're scared, remember—you're braver than the storm."

Lily picked up the glowing stone. It felt warm, like friendship wrapped in light.

"Thank you, Splash!"

"Come back next storm!" Splash waved as he slipped beneath the water.

As the rain slowed and the sky quieted, Lily hurried inside, her secret treasure safe in her pocket. She wasn't just a spy anymore—she was a guardian of magic, with a new friend who lived in a lightning-powered pool, and a heart that would never fear the dark again.
