The Lightning Pool's Orange Gift
Mia loved thunderstorms. While other children hid under blankets, she pressed her nose against the window, watching the sky light up with jagged streaks of lightning. Each flash was like nature's fireworks, and Mia would count the seconds until the thunder rumbled like a giant's tummy.
One particularly stormy evening, Mia noticed something strange in her backyard. Where the old kiddie pool usually sat—filled with rainwater and leaves—there now glowed a mysterious blue light. Curious, Mia grabbed her yellow raincoat and boots and ventured outside.
The pool had transformed! Instead of muddy water, it now swirled with sparkling liquid that looked like captured starlight. And floating in the center was the most peculiar creature Mia had ever seen—an orange glowing ball with tiny wings and a friendly smile.
"Hello!" the creature chirped. "I'm Finn, and this is the Lightning Pool. It only appears during storms when someone truly believes in magic."
Mia's eyes widened. "You're real?"
"As real as your imagination," Finn said, doing a happy spin. "Want to see something amazing?"
The little orange creature sprinkled glowing dust into the pool. Suddenly, images danced across the water's surface—children playing, oceans crashing, mountains touching the clouds. It was like watching dreams come alive.
"The Lightning Pool shows you what's in your heart," Finn explained. "What do you see?"
Mia saw herself sharing this magic with others. "I wish my friends could see this too."
Finn's smile grew brighter. "That's why you're special, Mia. Magic grows when shared."
The next morning, the storm had passed and the Lightning Pool had disappeared. But in Mia's pocket sat a small orange stone that still glowed faintly. She showed it to her friends, and though they never saw the Lightning Pool again, they created their own magic—building forts, painting pictures, and dreaming together.
Mia learned that the best magic isn't found in pools that appear during storms, but in the wonder we share with friends every day. And sometimes, if you look closely during a thunderstorm, you might just see a little orange spark dancing in the sky, reminding you that magic is real for those who believe.
