The Lightning Pool's Magic Gift
Lily loved swimming more than anything in the world. Every summer day, she'd beg her mom to take her to the community pool, where she'd glide through the cool blue water like a graceful fish.
One hot afternoon, as Lily swam laps, something extraordinary happened. A sudden storm rolled in, and CRACK! Lightning struck the pool's metal ladder. Sparks danced across the water's surface like tiny, glowing stars.
Lily's friend Emma pulled her out of the water just in time. "Are you okay?" Emma asked, her eyes wide with worry.
Lily nodded, but something felt different. When she looked at her hands, they were shimmering with a soft golden light. The water on her skin tasted sweet, like oranges and sunshine.
"It's magic!" whispered an old woman who'd been watching. "The lightning gave the pool a special gift. The water now holds a courage vitamin."
Lily and Emma stared at each other. "A courage vitamin?" Lily asked.
"Yes," the woman explained. "Once, long ago, lightning filled this pool with magic. Anyone who swims here during a storm absorbs a special vitamin that makes them brave. But it only works if you share it with others."
That night, Lily couldn't stop thinking about the magical vitamin. She wanted to be brave, but she also wanted to help her friend Tommy, who was afraid of the deep end.
The next day, Lily and Emma returned to the pool. "Tommy," Lily called, "come swim with us! We have something magical to share."
Tommy hesitated, but Lily's smile gave him courage. As they swam together, the golden light spread from Lily to Emma to Tommy. Suddenly, Tommy laughed. "I'm not scared anymore!"
Lily realized the real magic wasn't the lightning or the vitamin—it was friendship. And that was the most powerful magic of all.
